We are CANDIDATES
Indie/Britrock'n'Roll bringers 'Candidates' are standing up to deliver original emotionally charged but uplifting songs, in a time when there is so much noise - but not enough being said.
Based in Milton Keynes – England, the band personnel are:
Steve Wells (Lead vocals/Rhythm Guitar)
Jimi Cook (Lead Guitar)
Paul Pugh (Bass)
Neil Kenton (Drums) and
Antony Baker (Keys/Backing vocals)
With a mutual appreciation for hard hitting beats, rumbling bass, soaring bright guitars and meaningful lyrics sung with urgency, passion, and a relatable vulnerability, these lads have quickly become a close group of brothers with a fierce common purpose; merging musical backgrounds in indie, alternative, punk, electronic and rock to create a huge live sound that more and more followers are getting behind.
Having only formed towards the end of summer in 2017, Candidates’ rise has been quite staggering – being featured on BBC Introducing several times, supporting 90s Icons Space at Oxford’s O2 Academy, being shortlisted for an MK Inspiration award, also securing outdoor festival slots at Silverstone (both F1 and Moto GP events), Penn Fest and Tribfest!
Not only this but they have been handed shows in London at Numbucca, The Fiddlers’ Elbow and The Dublin Castle, along with top local festivals in Newport Pagnell, Olney and Northampton!
Though currently unsigned, the band are working in the background on a debut album to be ready in 2019 and are sure that they will have many more exciting opportunities to keep you up to date with.

News & Updates
"Retrobeat is in it's 18 year of providing a night of escapism from today's tedious music scene. The much anticipated performance from Candidates propelled the Retrobeat crowd back to the 90s; with musical influences from bands such as The Stone Roses, Oasis and The Charlatans. The crowd were immediately brought to their feet regaled by Candidates' nostalgic sound. The 5 piece band captivated the audience with eloquent lyrics accompanied by a tenacious indie rock n roll beat. Top lads, top night!"

"With a huge bold sound projection on stage.... I was blown away! Candidates are a must see live band. Catchy tunes that stay put in your head for days. The haunting track 'Medicine' could easily be mistaken for a Noel classic. I look forward to catching Candidates again soon.

"was lucky enough to see Candidates recently, a perfect selection of songs delivered in a way that is way beyond most bands at their level. An originality about them that is rarely seen these days that can only lead to bigger and better things. Go see them and it will definitely not be the only time you do"

"HOLY CRAP these lads who have been touring like mad the last 11 months have fast become one of my new favorite bands! The stage presence, the catchy riffs, the timeless vocals and the dance till you drop tune after tune pouring off the stage during their set is something to be seen. Their drummer just DOES NOT STOP! Whoever kept adding the 20p's to keep him going....we thank you. It is rare that I meet a bunch of lads that were so incredibly nice...nice is such a crap word but these lads were so lovely"
-Alana Ashby, New Legends @ The Fiddler's Elbow, London
